What follows is a concise breakdown of my experience and expertise. For a more detailed listing of my career please view my curriculum vitae; this can be downloaded as a PDF...

Career to date
I graduated from Leeds Polytechnic as a Printmaker in 1992. Since then I have worked as a graphic designer, lecturer, photographer and artist. In 1998 I was awarded an MA in Printmaking from the University of Wolverhampton.

After eight years of teaching in a variety of institutions I returned to full-time creative practice in January 2003. My last teaching post was at Loughborough University where I’d been an Associate Lecturer for over four years.

My time is now spent working on public art projects, my personal work and various photographic commissions. Illustrations of this work can be found in the case studies detailed on this web site.

Twelve years of professional creative practice built on a reputation for delivering innovative ideas to agreed budgets and schedules.

Interpretation skills
The ability to contextualise creative practice through theoretical knowledge and critical awareness.

Awareness of critical theories related to art and design, as well as an understanding of the historical contexts for current creative practice.

Developed theoretical research as a university lecturer.

Examples of successful work include:

The Bridgenorth Public Art Project; design of 26 metre long metal sculpture, inlaid into a hard landscaped public space, as a gateway between the historic old market town and a new retail development. Project completion due in 2005.

Hartshill Park and Local Nature Reserve; creative consultation project to design appropriate art features and interpretation for the Local Nature Reserve’s ongoing work.

Desire to advance knowledge and creativity in arts practice
A desire to extend the scope of creative practice; offering new insights to arts methodology.

Willingness to engage in broad questions about the role of art in the 21st Century.

Organisational skills in business management, educational administration and course development
Eight years of lecturing experience, with four of those at Loughborough University.

Written degree modules as well as designing entire courses in subjects such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Dreamweaver and Commercial Design Skills Training.

Organisational skills play a key part in structuring administrative tasks for professional practice.

Ongoing dialogue with clients and effective record keeping form the foundation of project management skills.
